Will Muscle Cars Possibly Make A Return?

If you’re in your forties or fifties, more than likely your very first car was a real American muscle car. There is a growing movement of people throughout the United States shopping for classic muscle cars to restore. The main reason for this particular fascination is that nobody is making these types of cars anymore. Everyone is thinking about why no one has started to develop muscle cars again.

Motorcycle 1Ford and Chevy will continue to produce Mustangs and Camaros after their introduction during the sixties. The problem tends to be that with each passing model, they move away from the ferocious power of a muscle car towards something more scientifically advanced. Will there actually be another car that has a 327 and a 4 barrel carburetor? The sad facts are we will probably never enjoy those categories of cars again.

The main problem is people prefer to fix things when they are really not broken in the first place. For example the 1967 Camaro that is certainly one of the most popular muscle cars ever created. Even though it got many awards and was highly sought after, Chevy stopped producing it. The same goes for the 1966 Mustang, which is another classic that Ford just decided had not been worth making.

So now here comes the humorous part. Volkswagen recognized the opportunity to remake the VW Bug and they did. The new Beetle sold well even with its ultra modern design. If they’d only stuck to the old style, they may have sold more. It’s tough to be successful if you consistently believe that doing things a new way is always better.

"used car display ramp"Let me suggest something to think about. What would you do if Chevy declared that they were making a new Camaro with a 327 engine and a 4 barrel carburetor with no modern technology? I asked this question to virtually hundreds of people throughout the years and they all said they would automatically get one. So why hasn’t doing this materialized? When there is a request for something which is back-to-basics, shouldn’t the car companies listen?

What will it take for GM or Ford to make a decision to make the classic muscle cars once again? I believe that they turns into hot commodities. But until the big corporations realize that there is a demand for these types of vehicles we are going to need to keep looking through the junk yards and rebuilding the classic American muscle cars.

Perhaps one day a muscle car junkie will be the CEO of Ford or GM and decide to start making muscle cars again. Sadly the head people at these companies have got this belief, that if they think they are creating new and better muscle car, people will want it. I believe we should just go back to the way that things were.
